Paris on Film

Bullfighters in the Lutece Arena

In January 2025, I had my first opportunity to take my refurbished Olympus OM-10 out for a spin in Paris. Tragically, only one roll of film was salvageable. But luckily, it was my roll of Ilford HP5. These photos turned out absolutely stunning, capturing my wonderful memories from Paris and this family trip.

Notre Dame opened her doors for the first time in almost six years. Its beautiful to see the lady shine again.

There is magic to film. The risk of the unknown, the development process, and the trust in your tools slow me down from focusing on my capture. Through this lens, I have seen Paris in a new light.

Rain-soaked walks down the Seine. Paris is beautiful, dressed in grey. My son walks beside me on the banks of the river. This is his first trip to Paris, and he is absorbing all of the city's sights, sounds, and smells. We keep him close as his curiosity leads him towards the murky water. We find puddles to splash in around the quay. It is a wonder to see Paris through these fresh, young eyes.

My singular glimpse of the tower this trip was from steps of the Pantheon, looking west across the city. Its rare to not catch sight of it as I’m out and about. I hope I don’t take these times in Paris for granted; that I’m always looking, searching, sensing.
